How To Get Your First Mythical Card

card lords mythical (red) cards

When I first played Card Lords, I saw highly ranked players with Mythical (red) cards and wondered how I would ever get my first one. So, I researched and played until getting my first four Mythical cards, to provide one possible route.

How do you get your first Mythical card? Evolve 4 Legendary cards, which you can get via:

  • Draw cards for 500 Gems (first time a Legendary card is guaranteed)
  • Sign-in Reward for Day 30
  • Summon a Legendary card with Shards + Dust
  • Evolve 4 Epic (purple) cards

This is not the only way to get Mythical cards, but early in the game, it is the best approach to plan for and the easiest to work toward. This approach also works whether or not you spend real money. Of course you are not guaranteed to get the same Legendary card in each random draw, so the process can take additional time along the way.

Four Ways to Get Legendary Cards to Evolve

1. Draw 5x cards for 500 Gems

Tap the Draw button on the main screen:

Tap “Enter” on the Gems option (far right):

Tap Draw 5x:

In addition to getting Legendary cards, the other benefit of drawing cards for 500 Gems is that you could get more of the Epic cards you need to evolve later.

How often can you draw cards for 500 Gems? About once per week. The answer depends on a number of factors, but as a bare minimum, you get 15 Gems each in-game day as a sign-in reward. It takes about 34 in-game days to get 500 gems this way (500 / 15 = 33.33…). A new in-game day begins every six hours, so if you logged in every in-game day, that would take approximately 6 real days (34 in-game days / 6 hrs/day = 5.67 real days).

The reality is that you typically get more than 15 Gems per in-game day. Other sources include the Dungeon, Fortune Teller, Arena, and other Gem Rewards.

Why not draw one card for 120 Gems? I do not recommend this because “Draw 5x” is more economical (120 Gems per card vs 100 Gems per card when you draw five).

2. Sign-in Rewards (Day 30)

When you log in each in-game day, you receive a sign-in reward. On Day 30, you get a random Legendary card!

The sign-in rewards then reset and cycle again. This means you will get one new Legendary card every 1-2 weeks in real time, depending on how frequently you log in.

As an example, one time I wanted to evolve four Reptile cards. I got three using the methods in this post. I also had four Treasure Goblin cards, which I could evolve to get the fourth Reptile card. However, I was still building up enough dust to upgrade the cards, so I waited. Luckily, on Day 30 I received the 4th Reptile card. Patience paid off!

3. Summon a Legendary Card with Shards + Dust

You can summon Legendary cards with Shards, although not all of the different cards are available. In my previous example, I was collecting Reptile cards. This is one Legendary card that you cannot get with this method.

To summon a Legendary card, tap the Shards button on the main screen:

Tap the icon for the card you want to summon (Paladin example below). If you have enough shards and dust, tap the Summon Card button on the lower left part of the screen:

Where do you get the 20 shards needed to summon a Legendary card? Shards come from two places: Disenchanting Legendary cards and the Bazaar.

First, you will get shards when you disenchant other Legendary cards, but I do not advise doing this, at least not until you are pretty far into the game. You may want to evolve your other Legendary cards one day, or use them for your deck in the future.

Second, you will find shards in the Bazaar:

  • Sometimes a shard is rewarded for watching an Ad
  • Shards are sometimes offered for sale

4. Evolve Four Epic Cards into a Legendary Card

The first step is to search the wiki to determine which Epic (purple) card you need in order to get the Legendary card you want.

The second step is to obtain four of the Epic cards you need. This process is similar to obtaining Legendary cards, so you can follow the same process in this guide for Epic cards as you do for Legendary cards. In short, the options are:

  • Draw cards for Tickets
  • Draw cards for Gems
  • Sign-in reward on Day 8
  • Summon an Epic card with shards + dust

How to Evolve Epic or Legendary Cards

Short version:

  1. Tap Evolve button
  2. Tap ‘+’ icon
  3. Tap the checkmark on the card you want to evolve
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add three more copies of the same card
  5. Tap the Evolve button (gold coins (50% chance) or Gems (100% chance)) to get your new card

Note: If you select the wrong card to evolve, tap the “Reset” button in the Evolution Chamber to remove all currently selected cards.

You will need four copies of the Epic or Legendary card you want to evolve. All four of these copies must be fully upgraded.

1. Once you have the four cards fully upgraded, tap the Evolve button on the main screen:

2. Tap the ‘+’ icon on one of the empty card slots:

3. Tap the checkmark on the card you want to evolve:

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add three more copies of the same card:

selecting multiple cards to evolve

5. Tap either the Evolve button to spend gold coins (50% chance of success), or the Gems button (100% chance of success).

If Evolve worked, you get your new card!

Should I spend Gold or Gems to evolve my cards? Gold coins. Gems are expensive and harder to acquire. Gold takes some time to build up, but does not transfer when you Paragon, so is ultimately lost anyway. That said, I spent 4000 Gems to evolve my first Mythical card. I was happy with the choice, but it took a very long time to stockpile that many Gems again.

As I said at the beginning of this post, other strategies and preferences exist for getting Mythical cards. The same can be said about any of the advice in this guide.

Ultimately, you learn and improve as a player over time, developing your own strategies along the way. This guide helps accelerate that process and provides a clear roadmap for getting your first Mythical card.

Should I Disenchant my Epic cards to get Purple shards? No, at least not early in the game. I save each Epic card until I have at least four copies, in case I want to Evolve them to get Legendary cards later. Depending on how you build your deck, you can probably afford to Disenchant certain Epic cards all the time.

What is the best Mythical card to get first? I recommend the Scarlet Crusader. Either Paladins or Tower Guards can evolve into a Scarlet Crusader (four of either one, no mixing the two!), so whichever card you have in abundance can work toward the upgrade. However, you might find that your available cards are different, so pick a Mythical card that will help your deck strategy and that you can acquire more easily.
